Somerville Open Studios is one of my favorite weekends and this year did not disappoint. We started our day at Fringe Union, a huge (more than 4,00 square foot) creative co-working space in Union Square. The building houses photographers, Pretty Things beer, the Cuppow creators and many other innovative businesses.
Fringe is a big, rambling space and not long after entering, we ran into Mike Dacey, the man behind Repeat Press, a custom letterpress printing shop. He prints everything from business cards and wedding invitations to restaurant materials and posters.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Justin Keena, a photographer with a passion for skateboarding. His studio had a great blend of old and new and we had a great time chatting about our respective weddings in New Hampshire.
Fringe is full of creative energy and every time I go there I meet so many interesting, creative people doing really cool stuff right in Somerville.

If you look closely in the Justin pic, you can see part of his miniramp that he built in his studio. How cool is that?
If I had known Somerville Beat existed prior to this afternoon, I might not have missed out on this
.
Guess I’ll just have to wait until next year.
