Snapshots from a Somerville Winter Weekend

What a weekend! We kicked things off on Friday night with a trip to the Holiday Arts and Eats Market at Assembly Row where we sipped hot wine, shopped for holiday gifts and dined at the food trucks.

The Somerville Winter Farmers Market opened for the season on Saturday and it was packed with a really diverse group of vendors new and old. I loved trying the fermented vegetables from Hosta Hill, especially the Crimson Kraut, and can’t wait to make the tempeh I picked up from them. Spindler Confections (a Beat sponsor), Union Square Donuts and other local favorites were on hand with treats, veggies, pasta, meat, eggs, flowers and more.

I did a bunch of local holiday shopping in the afternoon, stopping by the Union Square Winter Craft Market and several of my favorite Davis Square shops, like D-Squared, The Boston Shaker, Whats-Nü and Magpie. I picked up some lovely gifts (and a few things for myself!) that I can’t wait to share.
