Welcome to the new Somerville Beat!
When this site went live on May 7, I held my breath hoping that someone would read it. And you have. Every day we get new readers, connect with people on social media and in person and learn more about what makes Somerville such a special place. We’re proud to be a part of it.
So we’ve improved things to make your experience as a reader even better. And we’ve created a better canvas to display the stories and photos that make up the Somerville Beat.
We’ve streamlined the homepage, making it easier to highlight the main post and more prominently feature timeless posts that were previously difficult to find. I’ll be curating each section on the homepage so it features relevant content from the archives that you may have missed, like restaurant reviews and ideas for things to do.
In addition to a cleaner homepage, we’re launching an advertising program. We have several advertising options available, at a variety of prices, and are eager to partner with the businesses in the community. The Beat has been completely rebuilt to be faster, easier to read and more fun. The site is also optimized for mobile screens, so try it out on your smartphone or tablet. You can even add the Beat to your home screen just like an app. In iOS, tap the little “share” icon directly under the webpage, and tap “Add to home screen.”
