Photos from Opening Day at the 2014 Union Square Farmers Market

Despite predictions of rain all week, the Union Square Farmers Market opened on Saturday to sunny skies. Vendors new and old sold early spring veggies, vegetable starts, flowers, eggs, meat, cheese, jams, herbs, teas, bread, fermented foods, fish and more. The market opened three weeks early this year and the offerings will only get more robust as the season moves along. I was so happy to snag some scallops and swordfish from Jordan Bros. Seafood, one of my favorite vendors!

The Union Square Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Union Square Plaza. And if you can’t make it on the weekend, stop by the Davis Square Farmers Market, which opens today! You’ll find it in the parking lot on the corner of Day and Herbert Streets on Wednesdays from noon-6 p.m. through November 26.

Did you go to the first day of the Union Square Farmers Market? What did you buy?
