Seasonal Sips: Heartbeet

Meaghan Sinclair and Harmony Dawn, the women behind Booze Époque, a Somerville-based boutique cocktail company, are all about handcrafting beautiful and delicious drinks for their clients. And this month, they’ve concocted a special Valentine’s Day cocktail just for Beat readers.

1½ ounces vodka
¼ ounce fresh beet juice
1 ounce cardamom rose syrup*
1 ounce lemon juice
1 ounce club soda

Shake vodka, beet juice, syrup and lemon juice over ice. Strain into glass with fresh cubed ice. Top with soda. Garnish with small organic rose bud (use only pesticide-free flowers).

*Rose Cardamom Syrup
1 cup organic sugar
6 ounces water
2 ounces rose water
½ teaspoon cardamom seeds, crushed

Bring all ingredients to a boil. Turn down to a simmer, let simmer for 10 minutes. Cool before using.
