  1. Bazaar Bizarre: Union Made! Sunday, June 23 from 12-6pm outside in Union Square Plaza. It will be a nifty craft fair with 50+ vendors and live music! Definitely worth a stroll through on your way to the many bars & restaurants Union Square has to offer. A perfect Sunday afternoon. (Rain date: Sun., June 30, 12-6pm)

  2. Somerville’s annual event celebrating the raising the first flag of the United Colonies in 1776, before we were the United States, is coming up on the first Thursday of the new year, on Jan. 1st, 2015. A procession led by George Washington on horseback starts at 11:30am, from City Hall to the Prospect Hill Tower. A lively and participatory program follows and includes spectator singing, some historical perspectives, a gun salute, refreshments, and a dramatic flag raising to the top of the Tower. Come in Colonial Period clothing and add to the authenticity of the event! Free and open to all ages, and happens in all weather.
