Weekend 2.14-2.16: Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day Beat readers! If you’re still looking for a fun way to celebrate the holiday, look no further. Union Square Donuts and Forêt Design have teamed up to create a donut and flower pop-up shop, Brooklyn Boulders has two festive events, Cuisine en Locale is hosting a family-friendly dinner dance, the Nave Gallery Annex has an opening reception for its new show, Love Shack, and the Somerville Theatre is showing Camille and Amelie. And that’s just the beginning!

This Valentine’s Day we’re hosting our first-ever climbing-infused singles mixer: ValenTINDER Day! With music, food and drink, not to mention over 25,000 sq. ft. of rock climbing, Valentine’s Day will be fun for everyone!

Show your Tinder Profile at the front desk and receive $5 off your entry, then enjoy refreshments and some music in our Collaborative Workspace. When you’re ready to feel the burn, you can get your climb, cardio or sauna on! ValenTINDER Day is on Friday, February 14, from 8 p.m.-10 p.m.

It Takes Two: Join Brooklyn Boulders Somerville for its first-ever rock climbing competition and bring a friend because you’ll need one! The It Takes Two Competition on Saturday, February 15, will challenge couples and friends to work together to complete various rock climbs. There will also be a youth competition, so bring the whole family! Prizes will be given to first, second and third place winners and the competition is open to all abilities.

The youth competition goes from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and the adult competition goes from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. There will be over 60 routes specially designed for the It Takes Two Competition.

Donut and Flower Pop-Up: Kick off Valentine’s Day with a pop-up shop at Union Square Donuts (16 Bow St.) featuring their delicious donuts and flower arrangements from Forêt Design. Pick up pre-ordered flowers or buy them on the spot while the shop is open from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. And be sure to wish Union Square Donuts happy birthday while you’re there–it’s been one year since they opened!

Beer and Wine Tasting: Ball Square Fine Wines & Liquors hosts a special beer and wine tasting on Friday night in honor of Valentine’s Day. The wine tasting runs from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and will feature something bubbly, something sweet and the chance to purchase these wines for a discount. The beer tasting goes from  5 p.m.-7 p.m. and will feature something for both lovers and singles.

Love Shack Opening Reception: The Nave Gallery Annex (53 Chester St.) hosts an opening reception for its new show, Love Shack, on Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The exhibit features work by artists exploring themes surrounding Valentine’s Day and love.

ONCE Upon a Valentine: Cuisine en Locale (156 Highland Ave.) is hosting a family-friendly Valentine’s Day dinner dance tonight. Dine on beef, lobster or a vegetarian meal–there is a separate menu for kids and a cash bar for the 21-plus crowd–from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. then dance the night away. Tickets for the dance only are $5, the kids’ meal is $15 and the adult dinners range from $30-$50. Cuisine en Locale is donating $5 from each dinner ticket and all of the proceeds from the dance tickets to Girls Rock Campaign Boston.

Somerville Theatre Centennial Celebration: The Somerville Theatre’s Centennial Celebration continues on Friday night with a showing of Camille with Greto Garbo and Robert Taylor at 8 p.m. The Valentine’s Day fun continues with a showing of Amelie at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for each movie.

U.S.A. vs. Russia Hockey Game: Early risers and hockey fans rejoice, Olde Magoun’s Saloon (518 Medford St.) is opening at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday to broadcast the big game between the U.S. and Russia. Food and spirits will be served starting at 8 a.m.

Animal Nature: Come to the Washington Street Art Center (321 Washington St.) this Saturday from noon-4 p.m. to see Animal Nature. The show features photographic work by Ileana Hernandez Hernandez.

Somerville Mobile Farmers Market: The Somerville Mobile Farmers Market is open this Saturday at the Mystic Head Start Classroom (35 C Memorial Road) from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Mystic residents and EBT cardholders can purchase goods for half-off.

Who’s Sorry Now: Songs of Love, Regret and Revenge: The Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.) hosts this post-Valentine’s Day show featuring Robin Burrage, Marilyn Dale, Catharine David, Pamela Enders, Jen Lawrence, Gail Leondar-Wright and Marva Wooden. The 7:30 p.m. show is free, but donations are encouraged.

Somerville Theatre Centennial Celebration: The Somerville Theatre’s Centennial Celebration continues on Saturday night with a showing of the 1936 version of King Kong at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Female Fitness Formula Workshop: Lauren Perreault, co-owner of Union Square’s Achieve Fitness, and Artemis Scantalides, owner of Iron Body Studios in Needham, are teaming up on Sunday for the Female Fitness Formula Workshop. The day-long event takes place at Achieve (42 Merriam St.) and will focus on helping women discover true health, fitness and confidence. The workshop costs $97.

Parkour Workshop: Come to the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.) on Sunday to participate in parkour workshops for kids, teens and adults. The event runs from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. with a variety of classes offered for both beginner and experienced parkour practitioners. Prices to participate range from $15-$20.

Somerville Theatre Centennial Celebration: The Somerville Theatre’s Centennial Celebration continues on Sunday and Monday with the Boston Sci-Fi Movie Marathon. The 24-hour film marathon runs from noon on Sunday to noon on Monday and tickets are $60.

Marketing II: Engaging the Public: Somerville Open Studios is presenting a free series of talks leading up to the big event in May and this Sunday’s focuses on Marketing II: Engaging the Public. Lead by Jesa Damora of FunnelCake Marketing, this talk will highlight how people find you and your work and will feature special guest Kara Brickman from The Awesome Foundation. The event takes place at Mudflat Studios (81 Broadway) from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday and is free.
