Celebrate Independence Day in Somerville with Fireworks on July 3

The Fourth of July isn’t until Friday but you can celebrate the holiday early in Somerville with an evening of entertainment and fireworks tomorrow night!

The free event takes place at Trum Field (corner of Broadway and Cedar Street) and live entertainment from the Somerville SunSetters, local disco-funk band Booty Vortex, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers and the U.S. Navy Band Pops Northeast Ensemble will begin at 6 p.m. A 30-minute fireworks display will begin around 9:15 p.m.

In the event of rain, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers and U.S. Navy Band Pops Ensemble will perform at the East Somerville Community School (50 Cross St.) at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will be postponed to next Thursday, July 10.

The event will require many detours, road closures and traffic alterations. A full list of the affected streets and bus routes can be found here.

Happy Fourth of July!
