We’ve been lucky in Somerville to have some terrific opportunities to shop local this holiday season at the various markets that have popped up around the city. If you’re like me, you still have a few gifts missing and the time to find that perfect present is running out. That’s why Somerville Local First decided to have one last Local is for Lovers Holiday Market this Sunday!
The Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.) will be bursting with dozens of local vendors selling everything from beautiful jewelry and letterpress prints to unique soaps and kid’s books from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. Local edibles, like those from Spindler Confections, and fresh brews from Black Magic Coffee (pictured blow) will also be available.
Local is for Lovers is a very family-friendly event with Knucklebones on hand providing a play space for kids so parents can shop child-free. The market is free and open to everyone and there is a $3 suggested donation for use of the Knucklebones area. You can capture the spirit of the day with a caricature by the talented Alejandro Yegros or snap a picture in Jeremy Heflin’s photo booth.
The first Local is for Lovers Holiday Market took place the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was a big success–hundreds of shoppers came out to support the local economy and enjoy the market. So come down to the Armory on Sunday to shop Somerville this holiday season and have a fun day with your friends, family and the community at large!
