Giveaway: Win 2 Tickets to Harvest Fest 2015

Updated 9/17/15: Congratulations to Gabi on being the randomly selected winner of two tickets to Harvest Fest! Of why she loves Somerville, Gabi said, “Even though I’ve only been in Somerville a couple of years I love it so much I brag to all my friends and family as if it’s my hometown. So many quirky community events throughout the year.” Thank you to everyone who entered and don’t forget to buy your tickets before they sell out!

As the owner of a local, independent business in Somerville, one of my favorite organizations in the city is Somerville Local First, where I proudly serve on the board. And I couldn’t be more excited about our upcoming fundraiser, Harvest Fest 2015, happening at the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.) on October 17.

Harvest Fest is not your typical nonprofit gala. It’s a two-session all-local craft beer and food tasting highlighting the best breweries in the area and delicious restaurants in Somerville. You can attend in the afternoon, from 2 p.m.-5 p.m., for the Savory Session, or at night, from 7 p.m.-10 p.m., for the Sweet Session. Either way, you’ll get to sip and savor while listening to the sounds of some incredible local musicians.

  1. I love events like PorchFest! It feels like the party is in my backyard and also draws me out to explore new areas along with the rest of my Somerville neighbors. Plus music is the best.

  2. Reasons I love Somerville (my home for the last 5 years and many more to come): Porchfest, Honkfest, Fluff-fest, Dog festival, Saturday morning Union Square Farmers Market, Harvest Fest that showcases the up and coming and staple Somerville businesses, amazing food venues, breweries, and coffee shops that make us all love living here. Living in Somervill emenas you don’t have to venture far for good food, music, drinks, and it’s a growing and thriving community of awesomeness!

  3. Somerville has welcomed me with open arms since I moved here from NY in June! The walkability is one of my favorite benefits of being here, with each passing square a unique adventure from the next. The local businesses are quirky and refreshing; the people here are vibrant and friendly. And the food! Dave’s Fresh Pasta has run away with my heart, stomach, and salary; Trina’s is a gem; Flatbread & Sacco makes for an awesome night; the tastings at Bantam are always fun. I’m still exploring daily and finding great new things – I know I’ll be a resident here for years to come.

  4. Hi!!! My name is Ashleigh and I moved to Somerville in 2012. My husband and I spent the first two years living here exploring EVERYWHERE and just enjoying every part of Somerville. Our favorite restaurant is Sarma where we go for our birthdays and out wedding anniversary dinners. We frequent Dave’s Fresh Pasta, Diesel Cafe, The Independent and Nellies flowers. And I go to Magpie for every card I send out to friends and family. Thank you for this opportunity, we would love to go! And love that you do this!

  5. I love Somerville for its youthful, creative vibe and all the interesting local businesses. My favorite “Square” is Union Sq, with Davis Sq a close second. Favorite event is definitely Porchfest. Eateries my husband and I frequent are Neighborhood Restaurant, Man-O-Salwa Kabab and Sarma. We are still discovering all the great cuisines this area has to offer. I also make it a point to go see a movie at Somerville Theater and browse through Hub Comics/ Comicazi whenever I can.
