Giveaway: Win 2 Tickets to Upcoming ’90s Prom

Congrats to Hubway’s Whitney Johnson on winning two tickets to Somerville Local First’s ’90s prom! Thanks to everyone who entered and don’t forget to purchase your tickets by Friday to save $10 off the door price. See you at the prom!

Last year Somerville Local First threw an ’80s-themed prom that was such a hit that we’re doing it again in a couple of weeks. But instead of partying like it’s 1985, we’ll be getting down to the sounds of the ’90s while wearing our best flannel, backwards hats and crop tops!

Right Here, Right Now takes place on Friday, June 27 from 8 p.m.-midnight at Cuisine en Locale (156 Highland Ave.) and benefits Somerville Local First’s work in the community to foster a thriving environment for independent businesses.

The prom itself promises to be a blast from the past, with a DJ spinning ’90s classics all night long. Dress to impress and you might be crowned Prom King or Queen. Capture all your memories from this unforgettable night in the photo booth, complete with props. And no prom would be complete without an after party, so be sure to enter the local beer raffle.

Tickets for Right Here, Right Now are only $20 in advance ($30 at the door). With that you’ll get a free beer in the first hour, fun free goodies and a night to remember. Cuisine en Locale will be whipping up some of its extra-special local cocktails, including one created just for Somerville Local First, and food, which will available for purchase throughout the night.

  1. For me, even though it isn’t my favorite type of music, Peaches by The Presidents of the United States is my pick for the most 90s song ever. The 90s were a time when a band like the Presidents could get famous for writing silly irreverent pop songs with guitars. It just doesn’t happen anymore. Peaches is one of those songs everyone knows the words to, it’s stupid, playfully dirty, and speaks to the no fucks given nature of the time.
