Last Thursday, Santa Claus came rolling into Somerville not on his sleigh, but escorted by the Somerville Fire Department! The yearly tree lighting on the City Hall Concourse was well-attended, with loads of kids running around gleefully waiting for the big event.
Before the tree was lit, we were treated to classic holiday tunes played by the Somerville High School Band and the Somerville High School Choir. And I learned that the Choir will be going to Washington, D.C., in January to perform at President Barack Obama’s inauguration for the WorldStrides Heritage Presidential Inaugural Music Festival! The Choir is raising money for the trip and you can find out more about that here.
My absolute favorite time of year is when Somerville is all lit up for the holidays, so without further ado, here are photos from the big event!
