Friday was the first official day of summer and dozens of Somervillians rang in the season by dancing the night away at Somerville Local First’s ’80s prom, In the Air Tonight.
Everyone came dressed to impress, which made judging the costume contest incredibly difficult, and ready to have a great time! We crowned Jason Metz, of The Davis Flea, as our Local King and Brandy Brooks, an active member of the community who serves on several Somerville organizations’ boards, as our Local Queen. Thanks to Cuppow, Union Press and Whats-Nü for donating awesome prizes.
Prom attendees danced away to the best ’80s jams and captured memories in the photo booth. For refreshment, the ladies of Booze Époque mixed up two delicious punches and Dimitra Tsourianis (owner of Daddy Jones) poured amazing drinks like boozy piña coladas. Union Square Donuts, Eat at Jumbo’s and Food for the Band provided tasty nibbles.
You can see all of our photos from the night on Facebook (please tag yourself and your friends if you see familiar faces). And thanks to everyone who came–it was terrific to meet you all!
