One of the best ways to show your loved ones how much you care this Valentine’s Day is by supporting the local economy at Sunday’s Local is for Lovers Market. Somerville and the surrounding areas are home to dozens of talented artists, craftspeople and food producers who will be selling their wares this weekend at the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.).
The free market, presented by Somerville Local First, gives the community an opportunity to shop local this Valentine’s Day as well as providing a fun day out for families. Knucklebones will be on hand so kids can play the day away while parents shop for a mere $3 suggested donation. The Armory Cafe will also be open during the market selling lunch, snacks and drinks.
If you’ve been reading the Beat for a while, you’ll likely recognize many of the Local is for Lovers Market vendors. Somerville Soap Works, Spindler Confections, BeadKreative and RUNFELLOW will be at the market from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. along with nearly 30 other artists, craftspeople and food producers.
Whether you’re shopping for your sweetheart, your mom, your kids or your best friend, you’re sure to find the perfect gift at Somerville Local First’s market. From jewelry and paper goods to nuts and hard cider, there’s something for everyone on your Valentine’s Day list. And best of all? You’ll be supporting our vibrant local economy with your purchase!
