This weekend in Somerville was a scorcher, but that didn’t stop people from getting out to enjoy all of the fun events happening around the city. Musicians, artists and community groups came together on Friday and Saturday for ArtBeat. The huge festival completely took over Davis Square with bands and dancers performing throughout the event and vendors selling great food and beautiful crafts.
In addition to ArtBeat, the Community Growing Center opened its gates to those seeking some green space and shade. You can visit any Saturday during open hours from 9 a.m.-noon until October 6. And the Union Square Farmers Market was packed with so much fresh, local produce (peaches, blueberries, tomatoes, corn, zucchini, green beans, squash and so much more) and locally produced goods like bread, pastries, kombucha, letter press prints and fresh juice. The market is open each Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Union Square Plaza through November 23.
It was a pretty perfect Somerville weekend and I hope you got to enjoy it all!
