After spending much of the week indoors because of the blizzard, you’re probably more than ready to venture out for some fun. Look no further than the many events happening around Somerville this weekend–from painting with wine and Union Square Donuts and an open house in Magoun Square to the final night of the Somerville Idol Competition and a chili cook-off at Olde Magoun’s Saloon, there’s something for everyone. Paint Nite with Wine and Union Square Donuts: Paint Nite recently opened a location in Somerville just outside of Union Square and tonight they’re teaming up with Union Square Donuts for an event that also includes wine. Attendees will get to paint a pair of wine glasses before participating in a wine and donut pairing.
Final Performances at Washington Street Art Center and East End Grille: On Friday night, Washington Street Art Center is hosting a final performance of Deleuzer, a Boston-based experimental music ensemble that’s been in residence throughout January. And East End Grille is hosting the final night of the Somerville Idol Competition, where the winner will be crowned.
Somerville by Design: Union Square: As development in Union Square gets underway, Somerville by Design is hosting a series of events throughout the winter and spring to get the neighborhood involved. Attend a visioning session on Saturday morning that includes a walking tour at 9 a.m. and visioning meeting at the Old Post Office at 10 a.m.
Magoun Square Open House: Come to Magoun Square on Saturday afternoon to attend an open house featuring a pop-up market and specials from neighborhood restaurants and businesses, including free coffee, yoga classes and discounts.
2015 Somerville World’s Fair: Gather up the kids and head to the Arts at the Armory on Sunday morning for the 2015 Somerville World’s Fair. Hosted by Cultural Care Au Pair, the event includes story times in a variety of languages, crafts, music and more.
Chili Cook-Off and Super Bowl Party: Olde Magoun’s Saloon is hosting its 10th Annual Great Chili Cook-Off where contestants will vie to be crowned the chili king or queen of Somerville. After the cook-off, Magoun’s is hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Football BBQ Tailgate Party for the Super Bowl. The party starts at 5 p.m. and there will be all the pulled pork, smoked wings and jalapeño and bacon mac ‘n’ cheese you can eat.
