Weekend 10.4-10.6: Oktoberfests, Art Walk & Mini-Maker Faire

If you like German beer and food this is your weekend! Stop by one of the many Oktoberfests (or hop to them all) to celebrate the season with traditional food and beverages. You can also stop by the Harvard Book Store’s Somerville warehouse for its final open weekend of the fall, take an art walk in East Somerville, explore the local DIY culture in Union Square and shop the farmers market, which is back to its regular operating hours this Saturday. Have fun out there!

Bronwyn Oktoberfest: Somerville’s own German restaurant, Bronwyn (253 Washington St.), is hosting a weekend-long Oktoberfest packed with seasonal beer, specialty food, live music and more. Get your German beer and giant pretzel fix on Friday from 5 p.m.-1 a.m., on Saturday from noon-1 p.m. and on Sunday from 5 p.m.- 1 a.m.

T1A: The First Ascent: College Outside invites the Boston college community to an all-night party at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville (12A Tyler St.). The festivities kick off at 9 p.m. on Friday night and include yoga, movie screenings, scavenger hunts, giveaways and of course, rock climbing. Tickets are $10-$20.

Union Square Farmers Market: Head down to the Union Square Plaza on Saturday to stock up on fresh, seasonal produce, baked goods, bread, meat, eggs, fish and so much more at the Union Square Farmers Market. The market is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays through November 23.

Art in Action: The city is launching its interactive art map with an art walk on Saturday. Meet at Foss Park at 10 a.m. to learn about the pool’s mural and then explore public art along Broadway before decorating a new switchbox in the neighborhood. No experience necessary and all are welcome!

Harvard Book Store Warehouse Weekend: This is the final weekend that Harvard Book Store’s Somerville warehouse (14 Park St.) will be open this fall. This weekend is focused on Local Craft and celebrates regional food, products and workshops. Plus you can browse 25,000 used, rare and remainder books during the event on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Olde Magoun’s Saloon Oktoberfest Biergarten: Olde Magoun’s Saloon (518 Medford St.) is bringing back its Oktoberfest Biergarten and this time, it’s a two-day event. Stop by on Saturday and Sunday from noon-6 p.m. to sample six types of Paulaner and dine on traditional Oktoberfest food at the outdoor event.

Harvest Fair: The Community Growing Center (22 Vinal Ave.) hosts a Harvest Fair on Saturday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. to celebrate the season. The event includes lots of free fun for the whole family like pumpkin decorating, games and a cider demonstration. Sugar pumpkins will be on sale starting on Saturday through October while supplies last. Rain date of Sunday, October 6.

Mini-Maker Faire: Join local tinkerers, artists, engineers and hobbyists at this Saturday’s Mini-Maker Faire in Union Square. Artisan’s Asylum hosts this second annual event from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. where you can come check out a slice of the local DIY culture.

The Davis Flea: The Davis Flea is open on Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. from now through October 27. The market features new and returning vendors selling antiques, vintage goods and more. Stop by the parking lot on the corner of Holland Street and Buena Vista Road to check it out. Rain or shine.

Redbones 5th Annual Oktoberfest: Come down to Redbones (53 Chester St.) for the restaurant’s 5th Annual Oktoberfest this Sunday from noon-6 p.m. The free event features an Oompah band and beer garden. Postponed until next Sunday, October 13.
