Here’s a rundown of some of the things happening in and around Somerville this weekend. I’m really looking forward to Open Studios, the farmers market and possibly heading down to the Mobile Food Fest!
Somerville Open Studios: More than 400 artists showcasing their craft throughout the city on Friday, May 5, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, noon to 6 p.m. Free. Click here for my full write-up of the event, complete with pro tips on how to make the most of the weekend.
Taza Chocolate Celebrates Cinco de Mayo: Head down to the Taza Chocolate factory on Saturday, May 5, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. to sample the Taza Oaxaca cocktail mixed up by Highland Kitchen bartender Joe McGuirk, try Taza’s factory store limited Margarita Mexicano or some Q’s Nuts made with Taza chocolate to the sounds of live music.
Somerville Winter Farmers Market: The vendors will be set up outside on Saturday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Spring greens are starting to appear alongside all of the usual goods.
Greenway Mobile Food Festival: The Rose Kennedy Greenway, Dewey Square Park and Fort Point Channel Parks will play host to a mobile food festival on Saturday, May 5, from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. A few businesses from Somerville, like Kick*ss Cupcakes and Culinary Cruisers, will be on hand to serve up seasonal flavors alongside other mobile food vendors. There will also be backyard games like bocce and live music.
The 29th Annual Mayfair: Harvard Square will play host to live music, beer gardens, food and lots more on Sunday, May 6, from noon to 6 p.m. Learn about urban agriculture, dance the afternoon away to live music or take a hot air balloon ride as Cambridge celebrates the month of May!
