We’re right in the thick of long summer days and East Somerville Main Streets has a fun way for you to take advantage of the extra daylight. It’s Tuesday is a series of events happening tonight and throughout July celebrating many of the diverse, unique activities and foods found in East Somerville.
The free events take place at the East Branch Library (1115 Broadway) and start at 6 p.m. (except for tonight’s event, which begins at 5 p.m.). The activities range from puppet shows and live music to piñata-making and salsa dancing. Here’s the full schedule of events:
Pedals & Puppets
June 25, 5 p.m.
East Somerville Main Streets, Shape Up Somerville, MassBike and Strider host an evening of exciting bike-themed family-friendly activities. Followed by Puppet Palooza’s presentation of Goldie at the Capuano School’s Glen Park.
Puppets & Patsy’s II
July 2, 6 p.m.
Treat yourself to Patsy’s famous pastries, music and community in front of the East Branch Library. Followed by Puppet Palooza’s presentations of Schnurzpiepegal and Don Chico Con Alas at Connexion.
Portraits & Pizza
July 9, 6 p.m.
Be sure to bring smiles, friends and family for family portraits (silly shots available too)–absolutely FREE–with photographer Cesar Morales. Free fresh slices from the incomparable Vinny’s.
Music & Minutas
July 16, 6 p.m.
Cool off from the summer heat with traditional Salvadoran icees and bask in the sweet sounds of Diane Cline with Trio.
Piñatas & Pupusas
July 23, 6 p.m.
Prepare for fun times this summer and create your own unique piñata while enjoying delicious, local pupusas (a traditional Salvadoran stuffed tortilla). Diane Cline returns!
Salsa & Salsa
July 30, 6 p.m.
Learn some spicy dance moves and enjoy music, friends and community with a free salsa class by Stewart Herrera. Plus, free local cuisine!
