It’s hard to believe but the new school year is right around the corner. And this year, you can keep more of your money in Somerville by shopping at this weekend’s Local is for Lovers: Back to School Edition.
Somerville Local First hosts this Sunday’s event, which brings together area artists, crafters and entrepreneurs, at Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.). The family-friendly market is free and runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Once inside, you can shop beautiful arts and crafts, handmade soaps, clothing, kids’ items and much more. You can see a full list of vendors here. Local food and beverage producers like Union Square Donuts and Booze Epoque will be on hand as well. And Cambridge Naturals has donated a kids’ recipe book and an eco-friendly lunchbox and drink bottle–perfect for taking lunches to school–that you can win at the Local is for Lovers market raffle!
In addition to the vendors, Knucklebones will be hosting playtime on the Armory’s mezzanine ($2 per child) and live entertainment will be provided by Jeff Jam and Space Balloons. The Armory Cafe will be open during the event selling beverages and food. Stop by to see an exhibit put on by Somerville Local First featuring artists Ashley Freeland and Meghann Brideau.
While many amazing local vendors have already signed up to participate in this weekend’s Local is for Lovers market, we still have a few spots open to those interested in having a booth at the event. You can sign up here and submit payment here. Somerville and Cambridge Local First members get $10 off, so sign up if you haven’t yet!
