Teen Game Day: The Somerville Public Library’s Central Branch (79 Highland Ave.) hosts Teen Game Day on Friday from 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m.
Business Skills for Artists, Part 3: Intellectual Property: The third session in a five-part series of Business Skills for Artists takes place this Friday from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Artisan’s Asylum (10 Tyler St.) and focuses on intellectual property. Don Schaefer, an internationally known advocate and lobbyist for ethical copyright standards for creatives, will discuss the do’s and don’ts of online intellectual property and whether “sharing” is worth the rewards. This is a free event.
Pets in Need 16th Annual Silent Auction: The Pets in Need 16th Annual Silent Auction is this Friday from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. (bidding ends at 8:30 p.m.) at the Somerville City Club (20 Inner Belt Road). There will be great items to bid on–like Boston sports collectibles, restaurant gift certificates and artwork–live music and food. All proceeds from the event go to support the dogs and cats served by Pets in Need.
Union Square Farmers Market: Head down to the Union Square Plaza on Saturday to stock up on fresh, seasonal produce, baked goods, bread, meat, eggs, fish and so much more at the Union Square Farmers Market. The market is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays through November 23. While you’re there you can order your fresh, local turkey for Thanksgiving!
Photographer on the M.B.T.A.: The Washington Street Art Center is showing its newest exhibit, Photographer on the M.B.T.A., featuring the work of Gretchen Ann Graham on Saturdays in November from noon-4 p.m.
Wrap Around Sale and Cupcake Reception: Come to the Nave Gallery (155 Powder House Blvd.) this Saturday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a cupcake reception to kick off of the Wrap Around Sale. Shop handmade knitted, crocheted and sewn goods to benefit the Somerville Homeless Coalition. You can visit the sale every Saturday and Sunday (except Thanksgiving weekend) from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. through December 15.
Paint Nite: Get creative on Saturday night at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville (12A Tyler St.) with a special Paint Nite starting at 6 p.m. Let the artwork adorning the space inspire you as you make a painting of your own. Tickets are $45 and include a day pass to Brooklyn Boulders. There will be a cash bar for beer and wine.
New England Tuba Quartet Concert: After the cupcake reception wraps up, the Nave Gallery (155 Powder House Blvd.) hosts the New England Tuba Quartet Concert. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. and there is a $10 suggested donation ($5 with the purchase of an item from the Wrap Around Sale).
14th Annual Boston Comedy Festival Finals: The Somerville Theatre (55 Davis Square) hosts the 14th Annual Boston Comedy Festival Finals this Saturday at 8 p.m. After a week of competition between 96 comedians only eight remain. Watch them go head-to-head as they compete for $10,000 and the honor of being crowned the winner of the festival. Tickets are $25 or $30.
Brunch: What better way is there to enjoy a lazy Sunday than with brunch? Luckily Somerville is home to some terrific spots serving classic breakfast foods and creative cocktails, so you don’t have to roam far to find a delicious place to dine.
