Weekend 2.27-3.1: Visualize Somerville, Seed Swap & Art Events

We took last Friday off from the weekend post to announce our #somsnow15 contest and the guesses have been rolling in ever since. If you haven’t entered yet, you have until Sunday, March 1 at midnight to do so. Good luck! When you’re done, check out what’s going on in Somerville this weekend. Highlights are below and a full listing of events can be found on our calendar.

Please keep in mind that winter weather sometimes leads to event cancellations and we urge you to check with organizers before heading out if things seem dicey.

Visualize Somerville: Cabin fever may have you feeling like climbing the walls and on Friday you can channel that urge at Brooklyn Boulders during Visualize Somerville. Stunning images like waterfalls and mountain peaks will be projected on the walls as live DJs spin to provide a unique climbing experience.

Seed Swap and Sale: Think spring on Saturday when you stop by the Community Growing Center’s booth at the Somerville Winter Farmers Market at the Arts at the Armory. Bring seeds to swap or pick some up for your spring planting. You can also place an order with High Mowing Organic Seeds that will benefit the programs and maintenance of the Growing Center.

Weathering Art: Screening of Collapse: This is the final weekend to see Brickbottom’s current art show, Weathering Art. And on Saturday night you can take it in at the closing reception where there will be a screening of the documentary film Collapse by Lydia Eccles.

Bite Coffee Mandala Making Workshop and Artist Talk: Stop by the Nave Gallery on Sunday afternoon to make a coffee mandala with Bite artist Julia Tenney. Then stick around for the Bite artist talk where participating artists will discuss the role food plays in their work.

P.S. Don’t forget to enter our #somsnow15 contest before Sunday, March 1 at midnight! The winner receives a $25 Union Square Donuts gift card, Somerville Beat stickers and, best of all, bragging rights.
